Filled and Spilled

2 Timothy 4:5-8
5 But as for you, be serious about everything, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 There is reserved for me in the future the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.

Avoid Spilling

So much of our culture conditions us to savor, stockpile, and squeeze every drop out of this life. Get all you can before it’s gone or worse yet… before you die! Almost from birth, we’re programmed to think about ourselves first and process any situation through the lens of how it will benefit or suit our needs before we think about others.

How often do we hear the opposite?

Does society ever teach us to be selfless?

Selfless thinking requires deliberate concentration and submission on our part. And if we’re honest, the thought of suffering, sacrificing, and spending ourselves for a cause is extremely uncomfortable and terrifying. It’s much easier to fill our lives with things that insulate our safety and selfish habits.

Using the image of a drink offering, he compared his life to an idea of selflessness for the cause of Jesus Christ. Paul was not concerned with filling his life with things deemed valuable by his culture. Instead, he did the exact opposite. Spilling was the goal! Paul recognized how important it was to (more…)

Mammoth Invasion isn’t
just an excuse to play in the snow.

We seek out time away for a purpose.

Parents, is your child prepared for the present & the future in regards to his or her sexuality & perspective on dating?

Could they benefit from an intensive soul-searching time away to be reminded of God’s ways? We say….YES!

Our soul focus for M.I.6 is… (more…)

It’s time for the family to serve together.

One of our goals for 2012 is to bring our students and families closer to each other and closer to Christ. We want to encourage and support moms and dads who bear the weight of training up their kids to follow Jesus. We want our families to be learning, serving, and worshiping together.

Instead of doing our annual weekend service trip in LA with just students, we are doing a 1 day  (9am-6pm) trip to Los Angeles with students AND their parents.

The details are… (more…)

Remember to Remember

Staying focused is difficult.

Staying on track can be challenging when at work, while doing house cleaning, doing the taxes, and even while parenting.

Perhaps it’s never more tough to do than when it comes to our own daily walk with God…we so easily walk off of the way the Lord has charted out for us.

This is probably why one of the themes of the Bible is Remember! Remember! Remember the Lord your God! In fact, the Bible issues a call to “remember” over 200 times! Most of those have to do with a command to remember God and His works for His people. Others have to do with remembering the sin and old life they were rescued from. Still others call (more…)
