I joined “The Mighty” of Crux33 on one of their legendary prayer retreats. Our first stop was a beachside in Laguna. There we were given a document with scriptures that give the foundation for Crossline’s mission statement and sent off to “get alone with Jesus.”

I found a little stairway that wound up the mountainside and sat down to focus. I could hear the ocean lapping the shore. I could feel my face constantly being kissed by the wind. (more…)

Today at lunch (at In-N-Out) after church, we had an impromptu discipleship meeting right there in the parking lot. Our topic was, “Our New Identity in Christ”. We gathered like hippies on the sidewalk and went over a few key truths regarding who we really are because of (and for) Jesus.

Here are the scriptures we examined:

Ephesians 1:5
John 1:12
John 15:14
Colossians 3:3

Consider checking those out either for the first time or to get reminded about this critical reality.

JESUS’ TALKING POINTS:

*Be careful, watch out  for all forms of greed in your life. (there are many forms, all are marked by excessive/misplaced desire for what we don’t need) What we need most is Jesus.
*Life isn’t about how much you have, God measures us by our soul
*Storing/saving up earthly treasure will result in it being lost/burnt/wasted.
*Value what this world does at the expense of valuing God and we will cut ourselves off from Him.

Last Wednesday night, moving towards Good Friday & Easter, Matt Smyles, our Worship Arts Director made a change at CruxGroups. He put together a great program for our Crux33 to capture some of the weight of what Jesus has made possible for us.

After small groups had gathered & poured over the parable of the prodigal son, the groups returned to the Fellowship Center. After a few songs of worship, the groups gathered again throughout the room and took communion together led by the group leaders.

It was powerful to see 19 groups of students from 12-18 years old quietly remembering Jesus’ body broken and blood spilled.

This was the last song of the night.
