Hey CruxGroup Leaders!
As I was reading the Bible this morning, my plan had me on Galatians 6. While I was reading – all of you came to mind so I wanted to send out some encouragement for your area of service in CrosslineYouth.
Gal 6:1-2 “Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won’t be tempted. Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
We’ve all seen our students, at some point in time, struggle with sin. This verse encouraged me and taught me to be GENTLE as I try to help restore them. Sometimes I can get so (more…)

They told them never to write in second person, it makes readers uncomfortable. You do not like to have someone telling you who you are. You are independent.
The pursuit of comfort is pervasive, proven so by the unnerving effect of skimming an essay peppered by the accusatory “you,” proven by the history books that need only be recopied with adjusted dates with each century. We do not learn from history because learning requires humility, acquiescing to the follies of our nature. But it is not our nature to confess these follies, or those of another. It would be far too unpleasant.
It is this, our aversion to discomfort which inhibits progress. Our unwillingness to face distress is the epicenter of a growing trend of self absorption. By living to achieve comfort, we limit our view to that which is in the mirror. I could spend my life pursuing the woman I see there, but I fear that (more…)

I’m blessed to be in the stage of parenting where my daughter thinks I’m a hero and my wife is a “princess”.
THEN….there often comes the dreaded day when mom & dad lose hero status and become a *perceived* threat to a child’s fledgling reputation. (it doesn’t always happen, but it happens quite a bit…)
While it hasn’t happened to us yet, I’ve seen it take place hundreds of times in the last 17 years of youth ministry. Parents are often taken aback, wondering what they did wrong. Sometimes they react in anger, hoping to force a change. Sometimes they react in a “have it your way” approach and simply let the relationship falter. No matter what, the family is in crisis.
